The tremendous development of internet has been spreading almost in every corner of the world and it seems that you can get everything through internet, not only searching information, downloading music or movie, but also buying things. Certainly, this development is surely achieved by learning the needs of most people in this modern era.

Among many internet users, children have become the part of many active internet users from the total number of users in the world today. Learning this situation, the 5th Annual Cox Teen was held recently and brought a hot topic which was the Online safety issues regarding children as active internet users.

In detail, the discussion was held last June 15th in Washington D.C. by representing a famous social media expert, James Andrews, and hosted by the American’s Most Wanted host, John Walsh, that brought many children who had been invited to discuss the crucial topic regarding the Online safety issues.

Specifically, the event held by Cox Communication and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) delivered serious Online safety issues such as cyberbullying, sexting, or the worse which is the long-term impact to the teens’ digital reputation that may influence their mental and life.

Honestly, this event was held as an important point for teens to realize that their participation in the discussion would bring them to an understanding the importance of digital reputation management, especially for those who are active internet users. Children must comprehend that internet utilization may bring them both bad and good effects.

However, knowing that the total control is unable to be carried out by the children themselves, during the discussion in this 5th Annual Cox Teen Summit, it is suggested to many parents to be able to give controls and tutorials to their children for the sake of their safety in the cyber world.

Obviously, parents are the key points that should be able to pay more attention over their children when internet accesses are available in the house. The purpose of this tutorial is to give the right direction to teens or children to use internet safely wherever they are, whereas the parents’ controls may prevent children from the long-term impact that may possibly affects their personal life, mental, and their behavior.
